So when we left off the other day, Joseph had told Pharaoh what his dreams were about. Well it turns out his brothers and father were all hurting from the 7 years of famine. (You remember the brothers. The ones who threw him in a pit and sold him into slavery.) Jacob, Joseph’s dad, sent his sons all but the youngest to purchase some food from Pharaoh. When they showed up at Joseph’s doorstep. Joseph knew exactly who he was looking at. Joseph told his brothers to bring their youngest brother to him. Joseph kept one brother and sent the rest back with grain. He told them they had to all come back so he knew they were telling the truth. When they came back with Benjamin, Joseph decided to try to “trick” them. At this point he was getting a little carried away. He asked his brothers, “Is this the brother?'” He was so overwhelmed with emotions. He wanted to grab his little brother and hug him. Joseph begins to cry and runs out of the room. He wasn’t sad he was so excited because of the reunion. There were 3 tables and Joseph because of who he was had to be at a table by himself. Egyptians had to eat at another table and still the his brothers had to be at a different table. He sat them oldest to youngest. This was amazing to the brothers because there is such a slim chance that he would be able to do that. To be more specific a 1:39,917,000 chance that this could have happened. So then they had this big party and were all pretty happy. Joseph showed favoritism to Benjamin. Joseph had his servant put silver in the sack of the donkey that Benjamin was riding on and then told his servant to basically arrest them. The brothers said if you find the silver in any of our sack we will kill that brother. Guess whose sack the silver was in? Yep you guessed it Benjamin’s sack. They told Joseph please don’t make us kill him. “If we kill him it will surly kill our father. We will be your servants. We will do anything just don’t harm Benjamin.” Joseph then told all the Egyptians to leave. He then told his brothers who he was, “It’s me, Joseph!” They stood there in astonishment. Everyone heard him cry out. It was such a happy time for Joseph and his brothers. However, they didn’t know what  was going to happen to them. Then Joseph said, “Don’t fret, relax, you sold me because that is what God had planned all along. Can’t you see God had sent me ahead of you so that I could preserve the family.”

Isn’t it amazing how God always has it planned out. Even in the worst situation, God can find a way to use us to serve in a bigger picture. I know that my story is just an ad lib of the story of Joseph. But you have to admit it is pretty cool how God turns a terrible situation into a blessing.
